Poetry in the Gallery: A Writers Remix & Harbor Collaboration (July 10th, 2025)
For this program, I partnered with the Art of the Islamic Worlds department at MFAH to organize the museum’s first public event held inside the Islamic Worlds gallery. I brought together Writers Remix, an ongoing poetry series led by Yeiry Guevara, with The Harbor, a poetry platform I run independently.
I curated a reading featuring three Muslim poets, highlighting voices from our local community. nearly 100 people attended, making it the largest writers-focused program hosted at the museum to date. The event was made possible with the support of Aimee Froom, anushka Hosain, Vivian Nguyen, and Yeiry Guevara, who helped shape the collaboration.
turn TABLE TUNES Interview at ibrahim islamic center (June 20th, 2025)
in this discussion i sat with Brother Mohammed Jabreel and chat about film, art, and its influence on us as Muslims and as African Americans. Before the discussion, Br. Jabreel performed some beautiful nasheeds in his usual style of remixing older ‘negro’ spirituals and Islamifying them. Then he read a beautiful fictionalized account of Juneteenth from the perspective of a character named Elias.
Labor of Love Exhibition (feb 22, 2025)
"Building a Mosque Brick by Brick" showcases a series of photographs of my father laying the bricks for the masjid that still stands today in Killeen, TX.
The show is a group exhibition in celebration of Black History Month. And I decided to dedicate my piece to my father and his story on how the mosque was built.

Earth (2022) and Pop Music (2024)
Earth (2022) is a photograph that personifies the planet we live on symbolizing life and growth.
Pop Music (2024) is a lighthearted experimental short I directed that was produced and scored by Anthony Lopez and shot by Justin Montgomery where when subjects popped bubbles a live synthetic instrument would replace the sound of the pop.
